My main beam stopped working on the 360, I couldn't hear the relay clicking so I assumed stalk. Checked it and it's knackered. Bypassed it and the main beam came on. Good - or so I thought lol.
I put the car back together and didn't realise until I came to drive with the headlamps that the main beam is stuck on. I have unplugged the stalk and it is still on with the headlamps. Multimetered the bulb connectors and only the main beam is on, no dipped.
Where is the main beam relay? I've found the headlamps, indicators, blower.
Hmmm Your childs sunglass idea reminded me of these for some reason
I was thinking even more old skool though, with the six part flick up view finder. It was like playing Guess Who!
These cars make me laugh though. Loads of ramdom little faults etc but keep ticking where it matters! You knows I pestered my mate into buying a 2.3T 960 too. Guess who's buying it off him for its heart when the winter is over
Oh yeah additional, I can't adjust the headlamp aim either! Both of the adjusters just turn.
Main beam relay (unless the parental homebrew wine has had way to much of an effect) is the big silver one in the fuse box... however, I'm pretty certain that won't be your problem.
Firstly, what makes you think that the stalk is knackered? Normally, the bracket breaks and that screws up the operation. Multimeter for voltage on both the white with red stripey wire (at the bulb holder) and the white with blue stripey.
I need to have a think as to which is which, but knowledge of what voltage is on which is required to trace the problem!
Cheers Chris. Stalk is fkd as lights live is going in, but not coming back out.
The bracket is fine on these ones, when that screws things up are the indicators usually affected too? As mine are fine.

Funny that. Never had any bother with mine.............................

Yeah, theres a lot of that going around man eh?
Like swine flu. But deadlier!
Was my plan, but if all the Sunderland massive are going turbo I might have to find summat a bit more origonal.
Er.................... maybe a 2.3 with no turbo. and megasquirt. Always liked the sound of that.
Join the snail revolution man! I'm only doing it cos it is cheap. He gave £350 for a very good cond 960 with leather. I reckon I will get it for £300 or so. Flog a few bits, weigh it in. Win win.
The castors may not be up to the job of traction though
never thought you would fcuk about with the motor in this one Ben. You definitley should though!

Yeah. I probably shouldnt like. Still never managed an engine swap. And ive had like, ten engines so would be nice to actually put one in a car shaped hole.
Sounds like good wagon business youve got lined up for the summer then man. That project could end up paying for itself.
Mate-manipulation FTW.
Theres a lil plastic tab on (either the bracket or the stalk... I can't remember tonight, but you'll know it when you see it) when the bracket is working, the metal bit of the stalk can't move at all, and it won't feel at all floppy. I'm not convinced thats your problem at all though ... go out in the morn and have a nosey at the voltages!
